Response to Political Hit Jobs

Mishandling of Personal Finances

On September 28 and on October 9, dark money for Senator Simpson initiated a massive text message campaign claiming that Vivian is irresponsible with her personal finances. A mailer with the same information was also sent out during the last week of September. A second mailer went out in mid-October adding in other accusations.

  • Vivian never missed child support payments. There was a clerical error once when the state of New Mexico failed to adjust the withholdings after Vivian's pay schedule changed.

  • Vivian had her child support garnished from her paycheck because that is the law in New Mexico and many other states. It protects both parents when the payments come straight out of the paycheck.

  • Vivian is  working class and some years are harder than other years. This year has been particularly difficult as running for office means a reduction in income. She was late paying her property tax, which is paid in full.

  • Vivian sincerely has no idea what the 10 grand tax delinquency is about. Vivian never owned property in New Mexico and never had a sizable tax debt to the state.

  • Vivian has never been accused of aggressive behavior toward anyone. She did not verbally assault her ex-wife.

Aggressive Behavior

In mid-October, the republicans sent out another mailer accusing Vivian of the same unfounded financial irresponsibility. But this time, they tagged in an unrelated accusation about her relationship with her first wife.

Vivian did not verbally assault her ex-wife. This is an outright lie.

Rubber Stamper

On October 11, dark money sent a mass text message campaign accusing Vivian of being a rubber stamp for front range liberals.

Vivian has never been anyone's 'yes man'. She has a always sought knowledge and expertise and made her decisions based on what is right for the people she is responsible for. There is no foundation for this accusation.
